Food Group
According to the Soil Association, food accounts for nearly a third of our climate footprint. With this in mind, now is the perfect time to grow your own!
Over the last year we have organised a series of talks promoting the benefits and ease of growing your own grub. These have included talks on Food Security, Community Supported Agriculture, Permaculture, Composting, Bees and Mushroom Cultivation. We have also been involved in promoting a Garden Sharing Scheme with B&NES, starting a small Food Cooperative, and the planting of a new Community Orchard in Bailbrook.
Following the success of our Apple Tree Pruning Workshop earlier this year, we hope to repeat it in 2010, along with a one day Orchard Management Course in February.
We are gathering information about our local food producers and will be arranging a series of visits to some of them. We welcome people with ideas who would like support in carrying them out.
