Bath Homes Fit for the Future

project-bhfff.jpgThe Bath Homes Fit for the Future project aims to enthuse and inform the community about:

  • Making homes warmer and cheaper to heat
  • Retrofit of traditional and listed homes
  • Renewable energy generation
  • Low energy and sustainable design

It will feature an Open Homes weekend on March 17th-18th 2012 to showcase inspiring examples of energy saving homes, together with a series of associated events, activities and workshops throughout March and April.

You can check out the full details of the Open Homes Weekend, and related programme of events, on the project's website www.bathhomesfitforthefuture.co.uk

"Open Homes events like this one have been shown to be really effective at inspiring people to take action in their own homes. Being able to see what others have done and ask questions about their experience is is a great way to learn and find new ideas. This project is showcasing a wide range of homes from heritage to modern, existing to new build, and there's something in it for everyone, even if you don't own your own home. Come along and join us on March 17th and 18th, and through March and April for the range of supporting events!" Cathy and Jan, Transition Bath Energy Group

This project has been made possible by all the people in the community who have offered to share their time and resources as volunteers - by opening their homes, running events, preparing case studies, writing media articles, stewarding during the open homes weekend, distributing publicity, co-ordinating volunteers, raising funds, providing sponsorship, taking photographs, and even making bunting out of recycled fabric! An enormous thank you goes to all these people, without whom this project could not have been achieved. Thanks also to Community Futures, Camco and MinuteManPress for supporting the project's printing costs.

Bath Homes Fit for the Future is a community project supported by a partnership of Transition Bath, BANES Council and Bath Preservation Trust. It was launched on Tuesday 25th October at the Building of Bath Collection (see latest news).
